Child Safety, Illegal Content & UK Online Safety Act

BentVox takes the safety of children and all users with the utmost seriousness. We operate in line with the UK Online Safety Act 2023 and the Codes of Practice issued by Ofcom, the UK’s independent online safety regulator. This section explains how we protect users from illegal content and how we approach the safety of children. Full details are set out in our dedicated Online Safety & Content Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Minimum age — users must be 18 or over. BentVox is not designed for, marketed to, or intended for use by children. To register or use BentVox in any capacity (as a Creator or Supporter) you must be at least 18 years of age. We do not knowingly allow under-18s onto the platform. If we become aware that an account belongs to a person under 18, we will suspend and remove that account. We are implementing additional age assurance measures in line with Ofcom’s guidance.

Zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and child sexual exploitation and abuse (CSEA). The creation, upload, sharing, request, solicitation, possession, distribution or facilitation of any CSAM or CSEA content on BentVox is strictly forbidden and constitutes a serious criminal offence. This includes any sexualised content involving (or appearing to involve) a person under 18, whether real, illustrative, computer-generated, AI-generated, “deepfake” or otherwise. It also includes grooming behaviour, sexualised communication with a child, or any attempt to make contact with a child for sexual purposes.

Monitoring, detection and reporting. By using BentVox you acknowledge and agree that we may, to the extent permitted by applicable law:

  • review, scan, analyse and moderate content uploaded to or transmitted via the platform, including messages, media, profile information and Creator Content, for the purposes of detecting, preventing and removing illegal content and content that breaches these terms;
  • use proactive technology (including, where deployed, automated tools such as perceptual hash-matching against known CSAM databases, URL detection, keyword filters and AI-assisted moderation) to identify suspected illegal content. BentVox is in the process of implementing such proactive technology in line with Ofcom’s Codes of Practice;
  • retain content, account information, communications metadata and associated records for as long as necessary to investigate suspected breaches, comply with our legal obligations and assist law enforcement;
  • report suspected CSAM and CSEA content, and other suspected criminal offences, to the National Crime Agency (NCA), the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and/or other appropriate law enforcement and reporting bodies in the UK and elsewhere, and to cooperate fully with their investigations including by disclosing user identity, account data and content as lawfully required;
  • suspend, restrict, terminate or permanently ban any account, and remove any content, where we identify or reasonably suspect a breach of these terms or the commission of a criminal offence, without notice and without liability to you.

Where proactive detection technology is used on private messages or other private communications, we will do so only where lawful and proportionate, and in a manner designed to respect users’ privacy. Further detail is provided in our Online Safety & Content Policy and Privacy Policy.

Illegal content covered. BentVox prohibits all forms of illegal content as defined by the UK Online Safety Act 2023, including the 17 categories of “priority illegal content” covering terrorism; CSEA (including CSAM and grooming); hate offences; harassment, stalking, threats and abuse; controlling or coercive behaviour; intimate image abuse; cyberflashing; sending false or threatening communications; encouraging or assisting suicide or serious self-harm; drugs and psychoactive substances offences; firearms, knives and other weapons offences; assisting unlawful immigration or human trafficking; sexual exploitation of adults; fraud and financial services offences; proceeds of crime offences; foreign interference; and any offence concerning the unlawful sharing of child sexual abuse imagery. The full list and our approach to each category is set out in our Online Safety & Content Policy.

Reporting content and complaints. If you encounter content on BentVox that you believe is illegal, harmful, or in breach of these terms, you can report it to us at any time by emailing safety@bentvox.com, or by using the in-product reporting tools where available. We aim to acknowledge reports promptly and to take appropriate action, which may include removing content, suspending or banning accounts, and reporting matters to law enforcement. You can also submit a complaint about how a report has been handled to the same address. Our full reporting and complaints procedure is described in the Online Safety & Content Policy. If you believe you have encountered CSAM, you can also report it directly and confidentially to the Internet Watch Foundation at www.iwf.org.uk/report.

Senior accountability. BentVox has designated a senior person accountable for online safety compliance, including compliance with the Online Safety Act 2023 illegal content safety duties, reporting and complaints duties. You can contact them via safety@bentvox.com.

Cooperation with Ofcom and law enforcement. BentVox will cooperate with lawful requests from Ofcom, UK police forces, the National Crime Agency, and other competent authorities, including requests for information, content preservation and risk assessment records.

Creator Content

Creators can accept Commissions, solicit Donations and sell Products, Memberships or any other form of Creator Content (subject to applicable fees).

Payment providers may display the personal details of your payments account depending upon your account type even when a Donation is marked ‘Private’. You should consult the payment provider directly and prior to using BentVox should you have any questions or concerns about the information displayed when making a payment.
